The President of Georgia opened new radar system in Poti

The President of Georgia opened a new radar system today together with the representatives of French delegation. New system catches the aircraft signal in 400 km radius in any type of meteorological conditions. During the visit of radio locational center that was equipped with most contemporary gear by French company "Tales" the President of Georgia spoke with 16 youngsters that study in Toulouse International Aviation School. These youngsters are from various regions of Georgia and they study in Toulouse. Mikheil Saakashvili noted that such a method of selection is very positive, because the construction of such infrastructure takes place exactly within the regions. The President of Georgia delivered a speech as well and stressed his attention on the importance of this system and noted that it lays a foundation to Poti new international airports that will connect Batumi, Anaklia and Mestia to the rest of the world. As he said Poti airport has a strategic importance in regards of country's economic growth and it will support creation of new jobs and attraction of tourists within the country. The President at the time stated that a big investment will be made in Poti; opening of big factories and enterprises is planned in Poti as well. Besides this the President stressed his attention on the relations between France and Georgia and noted that France has great shares in the development of Georgia's infrastructure. The Minister of Transportation of France delivered a speech as well. Thierry Maryan spoke about the cooperation between France and Georgia and about the close friendly relationships of the Presidents of Georgia and France. He underlined the fact that France support Georgia's territorial integrity and independence within the internationally recognized borders. He said that France is satisfied with those relations that were established between Georgia and EU and it deepens day by day.

"That political, economic and friendly relations that deepens day by day between these two countries is special and it develops permanently. France supports Georgia's modernization process. We are standing beside you and appreciate job that becomes more progressive after each visit", he stated.

The new radar system fully adheres to ICAO standards.
