Mikheil Saakashvili Expressed Gratitude to the Former Minister of Health Alexander Kvitashvili for his Work at the Ministry

After being elected by the Academic Council of Tbilisi State University as the acting Rector, Alexander Kvitashvili met the President of Georgia at the President's Palace. As the President said that it was very useful for the country when Alexander Kvitashvili, who had been educated in the West and was based there, received the offer to continue his work in the Georgian Government, but, Mikheil Saakashvili noted, Kvitashvili is still facing a big challenge and this challenge is called the development of Tbilisi State University. This is the major Georgian University, taking into consideration the traditions and its development is very important for the future generations", Mikheil Saakasvili stated. He said that it is very important to use the scientific potential and development appropriately. At the same time it is vital to implement modern standards. "No one must get a University diploma without knowing at least one foreign language, but neither the language not the computer can substitute fundamental education", he said. Mikheil Saakashvili promised Alexander Kvitashvili to support him in raising finances for the University. "The stimulus must increase by means of financial support. There is no other priority higher than education for the Georgian statehood and our country will try its best in the frames of its limited resources", Mikheil Saakashvili stated. On his side, Alexander Kvitashvili thanked the President and Government for the assistance and support at the Ministry of Health. He expressed hope that they will work together to solve existing problems. "University is very close for me and I wish it to be successful and of European level", Kvitashvili stated.
