Mikheil Saakashvili opened a swimming pool “Olympic” on December 5 street.

At the opening ceremony the President of Georgia noted that this swimming pool would be accessible for everyone and some children would have free entrance as well.

Mikheil Saakashvili said that swimming pools of such scale function in the central districts of city and it is important that a new swimming pool has been open in the suburb as well.

“It is my dream to open such swimming pools in every micro-region and in every big and small settlement, but I want to add the fact that we are working on it in Tbilisi, in other cities and towns and regions is already a step forward, because it is not only a sport-project, but it is a social project as well”, the President noted.

Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about the territory surrounding the swimming pool, where greenery has been planted. “People from Azerbaijan and Armenia had to pass this territory and what they saw was huge piles of garbage, destroyed houses and the skeleton of this building, but now a big swimming pool is built here. From the morning today “a gardener Gigi Ugulava has been working on planting greenery, as it seems he has worked here and has built a beautiful garden”, the President noted.

Mikheil Saakashvili added that in the nearest future together with the swimming pool a new rugby pitch will be opened and for the residents of Moscow Avenue a sports center will be built as well.

The Presdient of Georgia got a gift from Nodar Rapava, a member of the Water Polo National Team, a cap with number 5 on it. Mikheil Saakashvili recalled that he himself was the member of Georgian Water Polo National Team and that he was seriously involved in this sport.
