Today President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko arrived to Georgia for three days unofficial visit. President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and other members of government met President Yushchenko at the airport. The Presidents then traveled to Likani government residence, Borjomi region, where they signed a joint declaration "Borjomi Declaration" and conducted a press conference.
Talking to journalists the Presidents emphasized on relations between Georgia and Ukraine. President Saakashvili underlined that Borjomi Declaration includes issues of straightening of freedom and democracy in the region. He said that under his and President Yushchenko's initiative this autumn Ukraine will host a summit of democratic states of the region. Russia, US and EU member states are invited as observers.
President Victor Yushchenko underlined that Borjomi Declaration is aimed at straightening democracy in the region and deepening of economic and bilateral relations between Georgia and Ukraine. He also emphasized on Georgian-Russian relations and expressed his positive view on perspective of relations between the two neighboring countries.
During the visit President Yushchenko together with his wife will travel to different regions of Georgia and visit different historic and cultural sites.
