President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Batumi today and saw a tunnel under construction, which is going to be the shortest route to connect Ajara to the rest of Georgia.
President Saakashvili hailed this project a historic one stressing that the tunnel would meet European standards.
The tunnel was expected to finish by the end of September though based on the demand of the President the deadline has been postponed until the end of the year .
