3/21/2006

Today President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Marneuli in Kvemo Kartli region to congratulate its Muslim residents on Nuvroz holiday (the holiday of beginning of spring).
When addressing the people President Saakashvili particularly underscored friendship of the Azerbaijani and Georgian people stating that "Azerbaijani people are one of the devoted and workaholic people. When Georgia was cut off gas supply our and my personal friend Ilham Aliyev supplied us with gas at the expense of restricting gas supply to its own population," President Saakashvili said after congratulating people on the spring holiday in the Azerbaijani language.

President Saakashvili once again promised to provide well-paid jobs to the Azeri population of Georgia if they study the Georgian language.

While visiting Marneuli President Saakashvili opened a judo room in the center of the district, visited Marneuli branch of the People's Bank, a free canteen, congratulated the pensioners on the increase of pension and stressed that pensions will also continue to increase in the future.
