President Saakashvili visits Kutaisi

5/2/2006

Today President Mikhiel Saakashvili paid a visit to Kutaisi to attend several events there. On Akhalgazrdoba [youth] Avenue the President opened the construction of a sport palace which should get finished by 2007. The palace is being built within the framework of the presidential program and GEL 3,200,000 has allocated by the Georgian government for this purpose.
"The basketball players in Kutaisi have never had a good basketball playground and the wrestlers have never had heated wrestling rooms. As soon as we were given a chance, we decided to build a sport palace rather than a mere playground or a sport hall. We need a sport complex, where, in its lightened, heated and clean halls, you will take exercises, keep fit and achieve success. We hope that the world champions will be brought up here, while those who would not be able to achieve this will simply be worthy citizens," President Saakashvili said.

The same day Mikheil Saakashvili also visited the Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration, met with the school graduates and promised the representatives of the ethnic minorities to help them get employed in the public sector.
