Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, together with Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili, met the Russian ambassador today at the State Chancellery. Vyacheslav Kovalenko presented his credentials to President Saakashvili.
Saakashvili said that Georgia was ready to start relations with Russia from a "clean slate", adding that that would happen when Russia lifts all the sanctions it has imposed on Georgia.
"When the restrictions that have been imposed are lifted, we will be ready to start our relations from a clean slate and a hold dialogue with Russia on pertinent issues concerning regional security and bilateral relations. I am absolutely convinced that a prosperous, united and multiethnic Georgia will be a reliable partner for Russia," the president said.
