Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has met the parents of three Georgian university students detained in Abkhazia on 1 March. The president said that their sons had been imprisoned unlawfully and that the Georgian government would spare no effort to secure their release.
"First of all, I want to express my deep gratitude to you for finding time to meet me. The unlawful imprisonment of your worthy children, Levan, Koba and Iveri, has continued for several months. We have not stopped thinking about and working on this issue for even one moment. Not only we - the Georgian government and relevant agencies - but also the whole of Georgia, with a few exceptions, are behind you. Both you and I are well aware of this. I am sure that we will achieve our goal and put an end to this unlawfulness once and for all," President Saakashvili said.
