Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili today distributed awards to young inventors at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi. Teenagers from Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Indonesia took part in the Young Scientists and Inventors' Competition, part of which is being held in Tbilisi.
Saakashvili noted that many foreigners had come to Georgia and lived here for decades and left the country enchanted only with the local culture and cuisine while these days foreigners are interested in the erudition and intellect of the Georgian people.
"I welcome these good people and talented young Georgians. I also welcome the fact that many of these kids are from outside Tbilisi. We must spend the most money and resources on education, because nothing can have a greater effect or impact on our country than having an educated society. Nothing is as important as facilitating education and fostering young people's talents," President Saakashvili said.
