Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Agriculture Minister Petre Tsiskarishvili today visited the village of Ganmukhuri in the Samegrelo region. Saakashvili paid a visit to the family of Zhora Akhalaia. He toured the family's farm and drank the wine they had pressed. Also today, the president toured a nearby hazelnut processing plant which employs some 400 local residents. President Saakashvili met the people of Ganmukhuri, who asked him to provide tractors and build a church in the village.
"We must help citrus processing plants by giving special privileges on exports. When they have such a guarantee, they will receive much more fruit. We are truly ready to do all we can to this end. This year the entire yield of the grape harvest will be put use, and the same must happen with citruses. No agricultural products should go to waste in Georgia," President Saakashvili said.
From Ganmukhuri, the president travelled to Zugdidi, where he attended a football match between the Zugdidi and Telavi teams. At the stadium football players asked the president to build one more mini-stadium. Saakashvili immediately ordered the local governor to do so.
