Acting president Burjanadze meets Ukrainian president

Georgia 's acting president Nino Burjanadze met today President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko. "With this visit I display solidarity to Georgia's democratic processes and I would like to stress that the Ukraine is very interested in Georgia's prosperity. Georgia needs political stability that is a guarantee for the country's further development. The Georgian people are to solve the major issues that Georgia faces," said Victor Yushchenko.

Acting president Burjanadze informed the Ukrainian President of the developments in Georgia and talked about Georgia's main priorities. "Our aim is to conduct free and fair elections. I'm confident that we will finalize the election process with dignity and we will prove to our foreign friends that our country respects democratic principles," said Nino Burjanadze.

Nino Burjanadze particularly emphasized the importance of political and economic cooperation with the Ukraine. "The Ukraine moves on a new stage of development. It is important for us to cooperate with such a strategic partner in different spheres," said Nino Burjanadze.
