The President of Georgia visited Ossetian Sunday school today. The President spoke to schoolteachers and schoolchildren. Mikheil Saakashvili talked about the historical friendship of Ossetian and Georgian peoples. It must be noted, that among the ethnic Ossetian children, there are Georgian children as well.

"Ossetian people have lived in Georgia for many centuries and they represented part of the Georgian state. Ossetian integration was always part of Georgian strength and the culture of Ossetia represented the most significant and precious part of the Georgian culture. Let me remind you, that our greatest and well-known kings, among them King Tamar, were closely connected to Ossetian origins. One of our greatest commanders David Soslan was Ossetian as well. Dearv children, once, when the Russian Empire arrested the last queen of Georgia, the last unit, which resisted saving our throne and the dignity of country, was Ossetian. They fought till the last drop of blood and displayed heroism to maintain the independency of Georgia" - stated Mikheil Saakashvili.

The Ossetian Sunday school has functioned since September and lessons are given only on the weekends. Children study the Ossetian language and literature and the history of the Caucasian.
