The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited a wounded lady in Zugdidi hospital

5/22/2008

At about the sunrise, the President of Georgia visited those people who were wounded during the shootings that took place in Khurcha-Nabakevi administrative border. There are two ladies hospitalized at this moment, Nana Kardava's condition is rather hard. An extremely difficult surgery was made and right now she is in the intensive care section. As the President noted, her actions were equal to devotion and heroism. He thinks that these people tried to pay their patriotic debt. Even by the price of their lives - they tried to come out of occupied zone. Mikheil Saakashvili expressed his gratitude to their children as well. Those journalists who came to Georgia to cover elections accompanied the President.

"We will not forgive anyone. To shoot someone a mortar for participation in elections is immoral - this does not even happen in the most dangerous zones. What happened in Zugdidi is the expression of inhumanity and heartlessness. I said many times - we will not forgive anyone. Georgia is really a very strong country and very strong people live here. This lady is a hero, she is a strong person - she risked her life not only to participate in elections - but to express her personal position. Georgia must be an integrated and free country. Everyone who lives here must be free. What else could be called heroism? It is easy to speak on some TV channel studios or to speak during the strikes. But what was done by this lady, is much more without any exaggeration. We will be able to do it if we try to do it together. This is Georgia and I am very proud of it", stated the President of Georgia.
