The Orthodox Church celebrated Forgiveness Sunday today. His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II held the ritual of forgiveness at Sameba Cathedral during which the Patriarch himself asked for forgiveness. The President of Georgia attended the ceremony together with all archbishops of Georgia.
"I want to express my gratitude towards our Lord for gathering all of us here, the President and the Patriarch, the government and the regular people. We all must remember that we are brothers and we must carry each other's burden, each other's sin", - stated the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia.
"Your Holiness, I want to join you and on this day of forgiveness ask almighty God and my people to forgive me", noted Mikheil Saakashvili.
