In Tbilisi, the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili and
the Vice President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, Jr. today held
constructive and productive talks on a broad range of issues. They
discussed economic, diplomatic and defense cooperation, as well as
Georgia's democratic reforms. Vice President Biden reaffirmed the
United States' strong support for Georgia's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The
leaders agreed that Georgia and the United States would work to deepen
their partnership and expand cooperation across a broad spectrum of
shared priorities. To that end, they confirmed that the U.S.-Georgia
Strategic Partnership Commission would meet this fall and that their
admiistrations would work closely together to establish a detailed and
substantive agenda for the meetings.
