President Saakashvili visiting Turkey to attend BSEC summit

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has travelled to the Republic of Turkey to attend a summit of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation together with 11 other regional heads of state, as well as a conference on energy issues.

The main topics of discussion at the summit will be economic cooperation among the countries of the Black Sea region and support for trade.

Also during the visit Saakashvili will meet Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Georgian president will make a speech at the summit on 25 June.

On 26 June a conference on energy issues will be held in Istanbul entitled "East meets West: the new borders of energy security", at which Saakashvili will also deliver an address. Later Saakashvili will meet Turkish citizens of Georgian origin. He will attend a concert organized by the Turkish-Georgian Foundation for Education and Culture and give a speech afterwards.

The summit will last for two days. President Saakashvili will return to Georgia on 26 June.
