The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited Svaneti region. He visited old ski lift that is planned to be reconstructed in the nearest future. Mikheil Saakashili got interested with the conditions of tourist routs and roads and tasked the representative of Road Department to bring the existing roads in the region in order. Mikheil Saakashvili stated that there should be no problem of traveling in Svaneti any more. During his visit in Ushguli and Mestia he spoke about the development perspectives of Svaneti as well. The President said that everywhere, where there is a ski-resort the population is wealthy. Mikheil Saakashvili is expecting to increase the number of tourists in Svaneti five times.

"In whole Europe the issue of snow became pretty actual. We have perspective in Gudauri to widen the ski slopes. We also have serious perspectives on Paravani Lake and in Javakheti. The most important is to give people jobs. One of the best ski-resorts will be developed in Mestia. We have to construct concrete roads, we are buying ski-lifts abroad and we will make commercials. Tourism has improved some more this year. We will have 5-6 times more tourists next year. So many tourists should come to Svaneti that you have to have lack of space for them. After new road is finished, you will be able to be here in 45 minutes from Mestia", the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili noted.

Mikheil Saakashvili visited the Ethnographical Museum as well and spoke with the local staff. Mikheil Saakashvili promised them to solve their problems. The President of Georgia spoke with the local population as well. He met Nazo Khergiani and promised her to open a museum named after Mikheil Khergiani.

Mikheil Saakashvili visited ice-skating arena as well. Later he went to Ushguli and attended the shooting session of video commercial. The Georgian National Ballet is participating in the video commercial.
